Luis Alberto Álvarez López Cienfuegos, Cuba | 1993
Luis Alberto Álvarez López graduated in 2012 from the Benny Moré Art Academy in Cienfuegos, Cuba. His paintings, like himself, are young, but both move with ease between the most photorealistic language and abstract expression. With a prolific production, Álvarez has experimented with diverse tools and techniques to expand the expressive ranges of his work.
My work is a constant transit between the concrete and gestural of figurative and the subjective and infinite of abstraction, it is a necessary loop, it can be chaotic at times or premeditated other times, taking the best of both worlds. I like to explore different techniques (ink, watercolor, graphite) and visuals with a special attachment to the drawing and graphic illustration.
His work has been exhibited in Cuba, Chile, Germany and the United States and is held in private collections in the United States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Italy, Malaysia and Ireland.
The artist lives and works in Cienfuegos, Cuba.
